These rules are the rules Anne McCaffrey gave to us to use. So please abide by these rules or you will be dismissed from this weyr. THESE RULES WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED!!!

1. Gold dragons will only look to women; bronze dragons will only look to men.

2. Goldriders - Females of heterasexual preference only
Bronzeriders - Males of heterasexual preference only
Brownriders - Extremely rare bisexual females (5 max)
Blueriders - Male bisexual/gays, rare bisexual/lesbian females (10 max)
Greenriders - Male and Females of any sexual preference

Mating flight substitutions are allowed, but the BoD frowns on this. Everyone needs some love.

3. Gold, bronze, brown, blue, and green are the only allowable dragon colors. You may have a dragon in any shade of these colors but there will be no more sport dragons. Ruth was unique.

4. Ruatha Hold, Benden Weyr, and the Harpercraft Hall exist but these locations are off-limits as settings. While your character can have a background in one of these locations, you cannot write a story set in any of these locations.

5. You cannot use any of Anne's characters. You can't be Lessa's ancestor or Sorka's descendent. You cannot have a character by the same name as any of Anne's. That also goes for dragons.

6. Pern has no religion. Don't thank God, thank Faranth.

7. Pern has no magic, elves, fairies, etc. Dragons are incredible enough.

8. No one on Pern is psychic. Beyond a dragonrider's ability to hear their life mate (or in instances when a dragon who deems you worthy enough to speak to), that's all the extrasensory powers anyone will have.

(LSW note: Hearing All Dragons is a rare ability. If you would like your persona to Hear All Dragons you need to write a solid background for the trait as well as an essay on why you and your persona deserve this quality and how you intend to handle it. You also need someone to vouch for you and tell the BoD if your responsible. If your persona Hears All Dragons, your persona will not Impress a gold dragon. Queen riders who Hear All Dragons are Anne's territory. Anyone who writes a character who Hears All Dragons will be ineligible to ever Impress a gold dragonet. Currently there are two personas who Hears All Dragons. IMPORTANT: The BoD has the right to take this ability away from you, if we feel that you are neglecting this ability!)

9. No world crossing. No Cattenti, no Mrdini, no humans from the same timeline are going to encounter Pern.

10. You CANNOT post any of the fanfic stories you write on the Internet. This is in direct violation of copyright laws. Fanfic writings will go in the 'Zine only.

(LSW note: We will NOT have a zine. LSW is strictly a PBeM group.)

These are rules that we've made up. These rules can be bent or even possibly broken, but not with out approval and reason. Note that these rules are subject to change.

1. Color Wars, meaning bronzes think they're above browns, will absolutely NOT be TOLERATED! This holds true for all dragons. Also, there will be NO FIGHTING what so ever between dragons. If a dragon doesn't like another dragon they will ignore that other dragon. The only cases this will happen is by flights gone wrong. This will have to be approved by the BoD first.

2. This Weyr is Rated-R. Obscenities, violence, and sex are allowable, but PLEASE keep it reasonable. Obscenities are allowable, but you can not use any Terran obscenities. Violence - if there is going to be a lot of violence, please put an OOC note at the top warning us of it. Sex - You have probably noticed that there seems to be a lot of it in Lakeside. That is fine. But please don't put all the little, tiny details in it. Also, if there is going to be a high sex content, please put an OOC note at the top of the post warning us of this.

3. Major Plots are allowed but you first need to get permission from the BoD. Also, if they upset the balance of the weyr, hall, or hold then they will not be permitted.

4. Timing is prohibited. It causes too much trouble and your characters could die. Also, think of the risks of losing your character because you met yourself while timing.

5. To standardize dragon mindspeech and human mindspeech, please use the following symbols to indicate each. Fire lizards communicate in pictures and images, not in speech. Wher's use both mind speech and pictures/images.

6. Firelizards have been around Lakeside for many years so they are widely available except golds. Golds will be given to those who deserve them. There will only be a limit of 5 golds a Weyr. Also, with green clutches, those rarely hatch but if you would like a green clutch hatching please notify the BoD and ask their permission first. All other colors are available though.

7. If you are going to be gone for more then a week then let the BoD and the Weyr know so that we don't think you've quit on us. If it happens that you have to leave before you can let us know, please send a message ASAP so that we can keep note of it. Also, if for some reason you don't come back (unless it is a good reason) your character will be put up for adoption or killed off after 60 days. Golds included.

8. If we find a mistake or a little detail in your persona that doesn't fit, we have the right to ask you to change it even after approval. This includes anyone, because no one is perfect and there is bound to be mistakes one person missed. Also, the BoD won't accept any half-filled out persona sheets. Either fill it all the way out or it just won't be accepted.

9. Remember this rule! Before you start playing a character, your character MUST be approved by the BoD.

10. Writing Requirements. These are mandatory requirements which must be filled to keep the Weyrs active. If for some reason you are going away, please notify the BoD of your absence. Also, if it is going to be a long LOA please tell us why you are leaving.

11. The BoD has the right to add any rules that we fill will make Lakeside better. So please just follow these rules and everyone will be happy. When you make a new character, place "Lakeside" next to your Real Name so we know you read the rules.
